Day 8 – Friday : Arles at home

Eighth and final stop on our guided tour of Arles and its surroundings.

Before leaving, you may want to bring something home that will remind you of your magical vacation… For jewelry, you can go to Pinus or Li Beloïo, to discover in particular the precious arlesian crosses nicely called capucine, maltaise or maintenon. For clothing, several options are available to you. For sharp and trendy brands, go to Actuel B or Arlette; for unique clothes and accessories, inspired by the Camargue or the Provence, the two Dou Bochi boutiques – created by the couturier Eric Bergère – will offer you the ideal outfits. For the traditional gardian pants or the shirt with Provençal prints, head for the Indiennes de Nîmes or Souleiado. If you are more casual, embroidered or printed t-shirts with Arles and Camargue references, go to the concept stores Bisous or Moustique, which also offers pretty decorative items. For perfumes, Arlésienne Perfumery and its fragrances with evocative names – Eau d’Arles, Eau de Camargue, La Bête du Vaccarès – will manage to accompany you smoothly on your return to the city frenzy…

Finally, Arles being a great litterature capital, you have the choice between several institutions to buy the book that will accompany you on your way home, wether it’s by train or plane: the Librairie du Palais offers a cutting-edge selection of photography books while at the Grandes Largeurs you will find more general works, novels and original cookbooks (ingeniously displayed in what was the cold room of the old butcher’s shop which houses the bookstore!); Finally at Actes Sud, you will have access to the catalog of this prestigious publishing house, to a plethora of novels, fine art books, records, stationery, etc.

In short, if you don’t have any gift ideas, Arles merchants will inspire you!
